Motion text

That this House deplores the arrest of Maya Evans at the Cenotaph for publicly reading out the names of British soldiers who have died in Iraq without prior authorisation from the Metropolitan Police; considers that section 132 of the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 is a fundamental affront to free speech, the right to protest and the traditions of this country; and calls on the Government to repeal the powers at the earliest opportunity.
