Motion text

That this House congratulates the Northern Echo Newspaper on its Olympic Dream campaign to raise vital money for grassroots sport in the North East; welcomes the campaign's aims of securing funds for talented youngsters through the sports charity SportsAid and helping to encourage children's sport and spread the benefits of the 2012 Olympics; is disappointed at the decision of the London 2012 Organising Committee to ban the use of the word Olympic from the Northern Echo Newspaper's campaign; and calls on the Government to intervene to ensure regional and community-based initiatives in support of the 2012 Olympics are allowed to use the term `Olympic'.
