Motion text

That this House notes the vigil held outside Parliament on 12th and 13th December by clinicians and patients of the Royal Surrey County Hospital and representatives of all local political parties, including the hon. Members for Guildford and South West Surrey; recognises the strength of feeling of residents from all over Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire expressed through the Save the Royal Surrey Campaign that patients need to be able to access good quality hospital services within a reasonable distance of their homes; condemns the strategic health authority for developing proposals which fail to take into account the views of clinicians and patients; congratulates the primary care trust on sacking McKinseys, who were responsible for developing these ill-thought-out proposals, and for reconsidering the clinical case for change; and calls on the Government to end the damaging uncertainty around the fate of the hospital.
