Motion text

That this House is deeply concerned by the decision made by the OCR Examination Board to withdraw Ancient History as a standalone subject at A-level from September 2008; notes that more than 1,500 people have signed a petition on the 10 Downing Street website in protest against OCR's decision; believes that a full Ancient History A-level can provide important insights into Western culture, values and civilisation which cannot be obtained from study of units within Classics or Classical Civilisation A-level alone; and therefore urges OCR to reconsider its decision.
