Motion text

That this House is dismayed by the suspicious death of Jewish student and British national Jeremiah Duggan, in Wiesbaden, Germany on 27th March 2003; notes that the initial verdict of suicide given by the German coroner was rejected by a British inquest in 2003; is concerned that since that time in spite of all attempts by Duggan's family to obtain a full investigation this has been refused; further notes that compelling forensic evidence published in March 2007 on the fourth anniversary of Duggan's death casts doubt on the current version of events; believes that a further investigation of the case is now urgently required; calls on the Attorney General to support the application for a new UK inquest; urges the Attorney General to liaise with his German counterpart as a matter of urgency to establish the truth; and further calls on the Government to ensure that, with the assistance of Mutual Aid Treaties, a full investigation into Duggan's death is carried out.
