Motion text

That this House notes that 20th June is World Refugee Day; recognises that refugees are amongst the most vulnerable people in the world today; is aware that there are more than 30 million people of concern to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) worldwide in need of basic provisions, shelter and protection; pays tribute to the work of the UN Refugee Agency, which since 1951 has won two Nobel peace prizes, in providing immediate care, safeguarding refugee protection and human rights and seeking long-term solutions for refugees; further notes that 97 per cent. of UNHCR's funds come from direct voluntary contributions from governments and individuals; and therefore calls on the Government firmly to support the work of UNHCR and its partners.
