That this House notes with concern that the world is still not on track to meet the key Millennium Development Goals for eradicating poverty by 2015; notes the continued public mandate for urgent political action to end global poverty; notes that the Global Call to Action on Poverty has designated 17th October, the World Day for the Eradication of Poverty, as the White Band Day for 2007; welcomes the work of the TUC, and other campaigners for trade justice, against debt and for more and better development aid; calls on the Government to listen to the global south by supporting giving developing countries in the global south a larger say in the international financial institutions, and establishing a requirement on every Government department to specify what it will do to help meet the Millennium Development Goals; and further calls on the Government and European Union institutions to acknowledge that the world still cannot wait to make poverty history.
