That this House welcomes the decision of Liverpool City Council to confer the Freedom of the City upon Eric S Heffer M.P., Member of Parliament for Liverpool, Walton from 1964 until the present and a former Member of the City Council for many years; feels that this honour is in recognition of his long and wholehearted service to the people of Liverpool over many years; and sends its congratulations to Eric and his wife Doris.
