Original motion text

That this House believes that the Eurovision Song Contest is no longer a music contest, but is more about politics than about talent; and feels with great sadness that the time has now come when the United Kingdom should withdraw from the contest until it is properly re-established on a basis which attracts the very best songs and judges those songs regardless of a country's political allegiances.
