Motion text

That this House congratulates Senator Barack Obama on his victory in the race to become President of the United States; commends Senator John McCain on the dignified manner in which he conceded defeat; notes that the previous Labour Prime Minister and the current Labour government have slavishly followed the lead of the outgoing United States President George W Bush, with often disastrous consequences for the UK and for the world; and hopes that in future British Prime Ministers will put British interests first and take a real lead in domestic and world affairs.
