That this House applauds all those who won Academy Awards at the Oscars on 22 February 2009; particularly praises British winners; wishes to congratulate Kate Winslet for winning Best Actress for her role in The Reader and Danny Boyle for winning Best Director for Slumdog Millionaire; commends all those members of the cast and crew of Slumdog Millionaire who helped earn the film the seven further Oscars for Best Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Sound Mixing, Film Editing, Best Original Score, Best Original Song and Best Picture; further congratulates the cast and crew of Man on Wire who won Best Documentary Feature; recognises the fantastic entertainment that the British film industry provides; and calls on the Government to support the creativity and talent of the British film industry which ensures that the UK is recognised throughout the world for its artistic ability.
