at end add 'and expresses concern that concentration on the Common Market has diminished the apparent importance of this unique body of independent states working together for common improvement; and believes that the Commonwealth is of greater benefit to this country than the Common Market has been or is likely to be in the future.'.

Original motion text

That this House on Commonwealth Day offers to Her Majesty as Head of the Commonwealth its warmest congratulations and expresses its appreciation for her contribution to the Commonwealth over 40 years; notes that the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association with its 110 active Branches in 41 countries plays an important role in promoting international co-operation and better understanding of parliamentary democracy; and believes the observance of Commonwealth Day on Monday 9th March is a fitting occasion to mark the unity of purpose of the Commonwealth and its people throughout the world.
