Motion text

That this House is aware of the plight ofSakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, a citizen of Iran who faces imminent death by stoning in her country for the alleged crime of adultery for which she has already spent five years in prison and received 99 lashes; believes that there is no place in the modern world for such medieval barbarism which blatantly disregards all international human rights commitments; and calls on the Government to inform Iran's representatives in the UK that it believes that, if such a cruel execution and inappropriate act were to be allowed by the Iran regime, the UK would see little value or positive function in maintaining ongoing international recognition or relationships with that regime.
