Motion text

That this House notes with extreme concern the announcement in the Comprehensive Spending Review that the Government intends to stop paying the mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) to people in residential care; recognises that the DLA mobility component allows a disabled person to meet costs such as for a powered wheelchair, accessible taxis or a motability car; acknowledges that disabled people who receive state-funded residential care often have to manage on low incomes, receiving just 22 a week in the form of their personal expenses allowance; believes that removal of the DLA mobility component will seriously impact on the independence and quality of life of those in residential care; and urges the Government to reverse this decision.
