Motion text

That this House notes that in 1990 President Frano Tudjman, the President of Croatia, wrote a book entitled The Tracklessness of Historical Reality; in which he argued that the Nazi genocide of the Jews in the holocaust should be equated with Israel's treatment of the Palestinians today; in which he further stated that `Jews have provoked hatred towards themselves.....by maintaining their ethnic and religious identity in the milieu of foreign nations'; in which he argued that Jews helped to run the camps where they were murdered and that the murder of Jewish and Serb victims of the notorious death camp at Jasenovac tended to be exaggerated, hereby creating what he, Tudjman, calls a `Jasenovac myth'; believes that Tudjman's slippery statements since he became President and after he wrote his book cannot hide his anti-semitism; and believes that Tudjman is unfit to be the President of a region aspiring to be recognised as a democratic state.
