Motion text

That this House notes that the EU and India aim to conclude a free trade agreement at their summit in Delhi in February, but that numerous expert non-governmental organisations have expressed concern that the agreement may secure free trade but will not deliver fair trade and that vast numbers of India's rural poor will be further impoverished by this agreement; and therefore calls on the UK Government to insist that a human rights impact assessment particularly relating ot the right to food is undertaken openly and transparently involving all the key stakeholders, especially the most vulnerable, before any agreement is issued.
