Motion text

That this House welcomes the spirited declaration by journalists and other staff on the Daily Mirror and its sister papers that any potential buyer must respect the papers' political and social stance, including support for the Labour party; notes that the radical and campaigning journalism of these titles is a counter to the pro-Conservative bias of most of the rest of the Press; insists that any future owner honours all trade union agreements and the independence of editors from proprietorial interference; and calls upon readers of these titles to help to ensure that this declaration is honoured in full.
