That this House applauds the 80 Spanish marchers who are marching the 250 miles from Mieres in the Asturias to Madrid, joining miners from Leon, Teruel and Palencia, in protest at the threat to their jobs, their pits and their communities resulting from the cuts in subsidies to the mining industry by the Spanish government; expresses its support for and solidarity with the miners in their fight for their future; and calls on the Spanish government to accede to the call from the miners for talks and negotiations.
