Motion text

That this House recognises the growing need for all forms of specialist housing for older people, including retirement and extra care accommodation; notes that the number of people aged over 65 in the UK will grow from 10 million to nearly 17 million by 2035; further notes that there is clear evidence that specialist housing of this type delivers health and well-being benefits to its residents; believes that more housing of this type needs to be built; and calls on local and national government to promote the delivery of all types and tenures of this important form of accommodation in the future.
