Motion text

That this House recognises the situation in the Central African Republic as urgent; notes that the UN has affirmed that mass atrocities have been carried out by both the ex-Seleka and the Anti-Balaka groups; is deeply concerned that 2.7 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance, half of whom are children; is alarmed that the threat of sexual and gender-based violence and insurgent attacks is ever-present in the warring territories; applauds the demobilisation and disarmament agreement resulting from the National Bangui Forum in May 2015; and calls on the Government to continue and expand its efforts to support the transitional authorities and the people of the Central African Republic in bringing security, social cohesion and sustainable peace to their country.
