MIDLOTHIAN WEST BY-ELECTION

That this House congratulates Councillor Kelly Parry on her election as the Scottish National Party's (SNP) latest elected representative following her decisive victory in the local authority by-election in Midlothian West in Midlothian Council; believes that Councillor Parry is the youngest female representative ever elected to Midlothian Council; recognises that the seat was won against an unfortunate campaign of mis-information by the Labour Party, claiming new schools in Loanhead, Bilston and Roslin were being stopped despite these projects all progressing well; and further recognises the work being undertaken by the SNP-led Midlothian Council in improving outcomes for residents of Midlothian in the face of cuts resulting from the Government's austerity programme.
