That this House welcomes International Stammering Awareness Day on 22 October 2015, which raises awareness of stammering, a condition that affects one in 100 adults worldwide; recognises the excellent work of the Scottish Stammering Network, which has directly supported hundreds of individuals who have a stammer through its support groups and open days; congratulates the Scottish Stammering Network in obtaining a grant of £5,000 from the Scottish Government to hold a series of Open Days across Scotland in 2015-16 with the first Scotland wide open day being in Glasgow on 14 November 2015; acknowledges that these open days are free of charge to attend with guest speakers sharing their experiences of living with a stammer, as well as a range of workshops which aim to be interactive, fun and useful to empower people who have a stammer; and wishes the charity well as it moves forward into 2016, with its plans to help more people who stammer by expanding its support groups and open days across Scotland.
