Motion text

That this House recognises the important role dairy farmers play in supplying high quality dairy products and the benefits that dairy produce brings to providing a healthy, well-balanced diet; expresses concern at the significantly reduced price unaligned dairy farmers are being forced to accept for their milk on the open market; commends the investment in, and contribution to the British countryside, generations of unaligned farmers have made; notes the rise of factory farms and the pressure these place on smaller unaligned producers; acknowledges the inequity of distributing the European Aid Package by rate of production, effectively rewarding big producers at the expense of smaller ones; and calls on the Government to work with the supermarkets and the dairy farming industry to ensure that unaligned farmers receive a fair price for their milk and are not forced out of the market.
