That this House expresses sadness at the death of the legendary Scottish saxophonist Joe Temperley, who passed away on 11 May 2016; notes that Mr Temperley was born in Lochgelly, Fife, in 1929, and rose to prominence in the UK as a member of Humphrey Lyttelton's band in the 1950s; further notes that he travelled to New York in the 1960s where he performed and recorded with many of the most popular American jazz musicians of the time; acknowledges that he also performed on Broadway, released several albums and received many film soundtrack credits; praises Mr Temperley for his contribution to music; and hopes that he will be remembered by future generations as one of the most respected and influential jazz artists of the 20th century.
