REDUNDANCIES AT NESTLÉ

Motion text

That this House notes the 300 redundancies announced at Nestlé factories in York, Fawdon, Halifax and Girvan; further notes the announcement that production of the Blue Riband will be transferred to Poland; acknowledges that Nestlé's operation is profitable achieving £21 billion in sales in the first three months of 2017, which was a 0.4 per cent increase over the same period in 2016; condemns the decision to cut jobs being taken by the company after reviewing a cost analysis which was kept private; urges the company to share this cost analysis and any other information which was a factor in the decision-making process, in the public domain as it is in the public interest; and calls on the Government to intervene and work with hon. Members, trade unions GMB and Unite and the company to avert these job losses now and prevent further job losses across Nestlé.
