EDM #204
Tabled 18 July 2017
2017-19 Session
That this House congratulates the organisers on successfully holding the 2017 Ceres Highland Games; notes the Games featured festivities included pipe music, dancing, wrestling, heavy events, cycling and running as well as shows, stalls and local and national produce; further notes the Ceres Games are the oldest free games in Scotland and have been held each year during peace-time since 1314 when Robert Bruce gave a charter to the people of the village in recognition of their support at the battle of Bannockburn; is pleased that participants and spectators enjoyed their time; and looks forward to the next 700 years of Ceres Games.
