Motion text
That this House congratulates Seaham Town Council, local residents and voluntary groups for gaining Gold awards in the Northumbria in Bloom competition 2017; notes that the achievement is testament to the hard work and commitment of the Town Clerk, ground staff and gardeners as well as many community volunteers; further notes that one of the gold awards was for the best coastal resort recognising the unique and historic East Durham heritage coast as a place of natural beauty with rare coastal plants and fossils; welcomes the extensive regeneration of the marina with cafés, shops and watersports facilities which has led to Seaham's transformation from a former mining community into a historic, cultural and natural beauty spot on the East Coast; and believes the Government should do more to promote East Durham and Seaham as a tourist destination.
