Motion text
That this House notes that October 2017 marks the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther nailing his 95 theses to the church door at Wittenberg, Germany; further notes that this began one of the most significant religious and social changes which initially started across much of northern Europe, including the UK, and has spread in the centuries since to North America, Brazil and the Far East; and expresses the hope that not just in Germany, but in other nations including the UK, the Protestant Reformation will be commemorated given the relative freedoms and prosperity that followed the commencement of that religious awakening.
