Motion text

That this House congratulates the Member of Parliament for Mount Albert and Leader of the New Zealand Labour Party, Jacinda Ardern, on her election as Prime Minister of New Zealand; welcomes the election of a Labour-led Government following recent coalition negotiations after the General Election in September 2017; recognises the message of hope that was at the heart of the New Zealand Labour Party's campaign with a plan focused on delivering for the many not the few; acknowledges the challenges facing the new Government in Wellington; and calls on the UK Government to ensure the continuation of good, strong and effective relations between the UK and New Zealand.
