Motion text

That this House welcomes the national awareness campaign Self Care Week, which runs from 13 to 19 November 2017, and which encourages people to embrace self care for life; notes the importance of self care for self-treatable conditions to empower people better to look after their own physical health and mental wellbeing, as well as preventing avoidable conditions; further notes that 57 million GP appointments are for self-treatable conditions; acknowledges the potential of better self care to save time and reduce avoidable demand on general practice; congratulates the Self Care Forum for organising Self Care Week and raising awareness of self care and its benefits; and calls on the Government to take greater steps to support people to self care through a national strategy for self care.
