Motion text
That this House congratulates the 10th Fife, First Cupar Scouts on its part in the Ribbon of Poppies project; understands that the First Cupar Scouts has a long history in Fife, dating back to 1909; recognises that this project marks the centenary of the end of the First World War in 2018 by creating a carpet of crimson from Land's End to John O'Groats; further recognises that this task is undertaken in remembrance of all those killed or wounded in that war; notes that after the Remembrance Service at Cupar War Memorial, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorer Scouts and their leaders sowed poppy seeds in the wild flower community garden; appreciates that when the seeds germinate in 2018, it is hoped there will be a great display of poppies creating a memorable visual reminder of the sacrifices made during the First World War as the centenary of the end of the conflict is marked; and encourages the growth of the Ribbon of Poppies project.
