Motion text
That this House notes that between April and December 2017,669 assaults were carried out against serving officers in the West Midlands Police Force area; recognises that reports of assaults carried out against on-duty police officers and other members of the emergency services are wholly unacceptable; and calls on the Government to undertake an urgent review of current legislation to ensure that greater protections may be afforded to on-duty emergency service workers, including police officers, through the introduction of tougher penalties for people who cause harm or injury.
