Motion text

That this House notes that the Government issued guidance in 2014 recommending that concessions or free parking should be available to blue badge holders at NHS hospitals in England; further notes that, despite this guidance, almost half of NHS hospitals in England charge blue badge holders to park; understands that hospital car parking charges present an extra cost for disabled people; acknowledges new research carried out by Scope, the disability charity, that disabled people can face extra costs of £570 a month related to their impairment or condition; recognises that hospital car parking charges are an unfair extra cost affecting the most vulnerable in society; and therefore urges the Government to scrap hospital car parking charges at NHS hospitals in England.
