Motion text
That this House notes that at present there is no statutory requirement for landlords to PAT test electrical appliances in their rental properties; believes the appalling Grenfell Tower tragedy, which cost the lives of 71 people and left hundreds more homeless, started as a result of a faulty electrical appliance; and calls on the Government to encourage insurers to take PAT testing into account when evaluating tenanted premises to make PAT testing in rental properties a requirement and to help to prevent any similar incidents.
