Motion text
That this House recognises Clean Air Week which begins on 18 June 2018; notes the damaging impact of air pollution on people’s health; further notes Public Health Wales figures show that air pollution causes 2,000 deaths a year, six per cent of Wales' total number of annual deaths; believes that nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter must both be dealt with in order to combat air pollution; welcomes the work of a coalition of charities and groups Healthy Air Cymru; calls on the Government to phase out the sale of diesel and petrol only vehicles by 2030 and give support for transition, to ensure a fair share of Vehicle Excise Duty and fuel duty income come to Wales to be spent on alternative transport options that improve air quality; and calls on all governments to ensure real world emissions testing for all vehicles.
