Motion text
That this House believes that keeping perpetrators of violent crime off the street will send the right message to people that might engage in such acts, help keep the public safe and deter further violent offences; further believes that tougher sentences for perpetrators of violent crime will reaffirm and where necessary reinstall trust in our legal justice system; and calls on the Government to bring forward legislative proposals for longer sentences and more custodial sentences for those found guilty of committing violent crime.
