Motion text

That this House commemorates the life and work of Professor Martin Gore CBE who tragically passed away suddenly; notes that he was a giant amongst UK cancer doctors, a pioneer in developing the field of medical oncology, spearheading many advances in the treatment of melanoma, renal and ovarian cancer; further notes that he was internationally recognised as a leader in his field and was an inspiration to those who had the good fortune to work with or be trained by him; acknowledges that he always gave an excellent and trusted clinical opinion and was the go-to oncologist; further acknowledges that his oncologist peers did not hesitate to refer patients to him to provide second opinions; recognises that he was engaging, witty and positive, his enjoyment of life was infectious; sends condolences to his family and friends, colleagues and patients; and further recognises that he still had so much more to give and will be sorely missed by the whole of the UK and international cancer community of patients and professionals.
