2017-19 Session
2017-19 Session
That this House recognises the launch of the Ceredigion branch of the national Women Against State Pension Injustice (WASPI) campaign on Saturday 19 January; notes that there are more than 5,000 women in Ceredigion who were born in the 1950s and who, despite paying into the National Insurance Fund all their working lives, were not given effective notice that they would have to wait up to six years longer to receive their state pensions; further recognises that these women have been subject to a great deal of injustice; believes it is unacceptable that any Government would implement such drastic changes to anyone’s state pension age without ensuring sufficient notice; and urges the UK Government to reverse these changes and compensate the women for the hardship they have been put through.
