Motion text

That this House notes that on 1 April 2019 the National Minimum Wage will be 20 years old; acknowledges the role of the Low Pay Commission; further notes that two thirds of beneficiaries are women; welcomes the development since 1999 of minimum wage rates for 16 and 17-year-olds and apprentices and of the National Living Wage; further acknowledges that more resources are still needed for enforcement; and declares that if the National Minimum Wage is to remain a success then it should be increased to the level of the living wage for all workers regardless of age.
