That this House celebrates the life of Sandy Pirie; notes his success as headteacher at Craigshill High School, Livingston from its opening in 1969 until its close in 1990; further notes his success in creating an innovative school that gained an exceptional reputation as a centre of excellence for pupils as well as meeting the needs of the community with a huge number of night classes; welcomes the plaque unveiled recently by former students of Craigshill High School, Livingston; acknowledges his huge contribution to the new town of Livingston including the founding of Livingston Arts Association in Howden House in 1973; treasures his chairmanship of the Howden Park Centre, which was created from the former Howden Farm Steading; and mourns his passing on 3 April 2016 at the age of 89.
