2017-19 Session
That this House congratulates the students and staff of Gateshead College, which has been ranked the best performing college in England for post-16 education and training; notes that figures from the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) show an overall achievement rate of 96 per cent, which is more than 10 per cent above the national rate for further education colleges; acknowledges the vital role that the college, which had 16,500 enrolments for education and training courses including A-Levels and vocational programmes in the academic year 2017-18, plays in north-east England; and urges colleges around the UK to learn from the innovation and dedication of Judith Doyle CBE, the college's principal/CEO, and its wider leadership team, who continue to drive up the quality of the education that they provide to students from Gateshead, Tyneside and further afield.
