That this House congratulates the A Play, A Pie and A Pint programme on its 500th play at Glasgow’s Oran Mor venue; recognises that this year marks the 15th anniversary and the 30th season of the UK’s most successful lunchtime show; notes that the hugely popular programme was the innovation of the late David MacLennan who produced the first play back in 2004 and whose passion for the project has inspired the success that followed; understands that the 500th performance will be Casablanca the Lunchtime Cut by Morag Fullarton a past favourite which was voted by the audience as the performance they would most like to see again; acknowledges that many of Scotland’s favourite playwrights have contributed original works including plays from Liz Lochhead, Alan Bissett, Louise Welsh, David Greig, Gregory Burke, Ann Marie Di Mambro, Martin McCormick and Rob Drummond; notes that the team work with partners across Scotland and the United Kingdom to present and promote newer works to an ever-wider audience; commends the production team for presenting plays at various international festivals including venues in London, Seoul, Beirut, Milan, Amsterdam, Dublin, Barbados, France, New York and Philadelphia; celebrates the contribution that A Play, A Pie and A Pint has made to the arts and entertainment in both Scotland and around the world; wishes all the team behind A Play, A Pie and A Pint every success in the future; and looks forward to many more shows to entertain Glasgow lunchtime crowds for years to come.
