That this House congratulates the Scottish Catholic Justice and Peace Commission of the Bishops’ Conference of Scotland, known as Justice and Peace Scotland, as it celebrates its 40th anniversary; notes that the organisation, which was founded in 1979, advises the Catholic Bishops of Scotland on matters relating to social justice, international peace and human rights, and promotes action in these areas especially through a network of parish groups across Scotland; further notes that the organisation supports worldwide efforts to promote Catholic Social Teaching through its membership of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Integral Human Development; welcomes the various events which have taken place to commemorate the anniversary, including the planting of eight trees representing Scotland’s eight Catholic dioceses at Carfin Grotto and in recognition of the campaign focus for the anniversary year of care for creation and the environment; and wishes all the clergy, staff, volunteers and supporters of the organisation the very best for the future.
