Tabled 08 May 2019
2017-19 Session
That this House congratulates Crail Preservation Society on its work to restore Crail Priory Doocot, built in the mid-16th century to house pigeons bred to provide fresh meat and eggs for the owner believed to be Haddington Priory and later becoming the property of the Priory of St Andrews; notes the significance of its Category A listed beehive design is one of the last few examples of its kind in Scotland; recognises the importance of financial support of Historic Environment Scotland, Heritage Lottery Fund, Crail Common Good Fund and the Helen Main Trust in allowing restoration work including stonework repairs, the installation of a potence ladder to access nesting boxes, the creation of information boards, and access improvements; and commends Crail Community Council and Crail Preservation Trust on organising events to celebrate the opening of the Priory Doocot, as well as celebrations marking the return of Crail's Coat of Arms by the Lord Lyon King of Arms, on 18 May 2019.
