Motion text

That this House congratulates the Coalfields Regeneration Trust (CRT) on celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2019; commends the work that the CRT has done over the last 20 years in Scotland and the whole of the UK to help former mining communities recover from the devastating impact of pit closures; recognises the organisation's hard work in supporting local communities in a range of activities to increase skills, health and employment in these areas, as well as supporting thousands of projects across former mining communities benefiting thousands of people in the process; welcomes the upcoming event titled Pits, People, Progress being held in the Scottish Parliament in May 2019 to mark this special occasion; highlights the efforts of CRT Scotland in bringing together communities to help design a banner for the occasion similar to those that used to be displayed at coal mines; and wishes the CRT continued success for the future.
