Motion text

That this House remembers that over 50,000 UK servicemen were held as Japanese prisoners of war from 1941-45; recognises the tragedy that over 25 per cent of these servicemen were either killed or died during captivity; further recognises the contribution of those held captive as prisoners of war to our country; acknowledges that many of these brave servicemen felt overlooked upon their repatriation and beyond; and, therefore, urges this Government to establish a national day of commemoration.
