Motion text
That this House recognises the outstanding contribution to Catholic Education in Scotland made by Mr Andrew McSorley over a career spanning forty years, in particular the leadership he has shown as Head Teacher of St Thomas Aquinas Secondary School for the last 13 years; notes his exceptional relationship with the young people in his care, keeping them at the heart of everything he has done; notes that under his direction, St Thomas Aquinas has been recognised as achieving excellent exam results despite 46 per cent of pupils coming from the lowest levels of the Scottish Index for Multiple Deprivation; further notes that these same young people, without direction from teachers, declared at a recent school assembly that he would be greatly missed when he retires; further recognises the work he has done in supporting many school endeavours, including multiple school trips; and wishes Mr McSorley the very best on his retirement.
