Motion text

That this House commends the organisers of this year's annual pride march in the Ukrainian capital city of Kyiv; understands that the march for LGBT equality was made up of 8,000 participants, making it the largest LGBT rights march in the history of eastern Europe; notes that this year it included the first ever organised participation of trans rights activists and armed forces veterans; commends the police and the national guard for ensuring the safety of pride participants who ensured the march was safe and peaceful; encourages the city and national authorities to continue dialogue with LGBT activists in Ukraine to ensure the safety and success of future civil rights protests; and wishes LGBT rights activists in Ukraine and the wider east European region every success in organising future pride marches in their pursuit of equality and civil rights.
