CELEBRATION OF THE KILBRYDE HIKE

That this House congratulates the outstanding work of Kilbryde Hike in providing a specialist service to young people; notes that Kilbryde Hike officially launched in 1969, founded by Willie Brownlie, and has since acted as a competitive challenge hike for young people between the ages of 11 and 18; further notes that the hike is organised by the Boys' Brigade Officers but is open to young people from all organisations, groups and schools; recognises Kilbryde Hike has since supported Kilbryde Hospice by raising funds for the charity whilst also encouraging participants to use the adventure as an opportunity to donate to local charities or organisations through the use of sponsors; further recognises the organisation is celebrating their 50th anniversary by hosting a special hike which invites previous participants to reiive their hiking experience; moreover, within their 50th anniversary celebrations Kilbryde Hike has congratulated their current annual winner with the new Willie Brownlie Trophy named after the first convener, and founder, who has been heavily involved since the Hike's inception in 1969; and congratulates all those involved on their achievements.
