Motion text
That this House acknowledges the disastrous fire incident that occurred at Newgrange Care Home in 2017 which killed two people; recognises the bravery of the firefighters who saved the lives of 33 residents at the home; notes that over half of all residential care homes that were visited by the London Fire Brigade in the aftermath of this incident had to make improvements to their fire safety arrangements; further notes the importance of the role that roof fire barriers play in preventing the spread of any fire; and therefore urges the Government to conduct a nationwide review into the fire safety at care homes and other residential blocks to ensure that an incident like this never occurs again.
